Adoption Profile

Background

Oreo is a sweet young pup who came into the care of Snow Dog Rescue Society through NCR from Cambridge Bay as he needed immediate vet evaluation for his front legs with his sister Maggie and is now looking for a loving forever home where he can continue to grow, learn, and enjoy being a puppy.

Description

Oreo is a lovable, playful puppy with plenty of growing and learning ahead of him. Like any puppy, he will need a family who is prepared for the time, patience, training, and consistency that comes with raising a young dog. He is looking for someone who will continue to build his confidence, teach him good manners, and give him lots of love along the way.

🐾 Dog Friendly

Oreo is friendly with other dogs and would enjoy having a canine companion to play with and learn from.

🐱 Cat Friendly / Prey Drive

Oreo’s experience with cats is still being assessed. As with any puppy, slow and supervised introductions will be important.

👧 Kid Friendly

Oreo is a young, playful puppy and would do well with a family who can help teach him appropriate interactions and puppy manners around children.

🦮 Leash Skills

Oreo is still learning his leash skills. His new family should be prepared to continue working with him as he grows.

🚻 House Trained

Oreo is still working on his house training and will need a consistent routine and plenty of patience as he learns.

🍖 Food & Training

Oreo is food motivated and responds well to positive reinforcement. Continued reward-based training will help him learn good manners and build a strong bond with his family.

🚗 Vehicle Behaviour

Oreo is still getting used to car rides and will need continued positive experiences to help him become a confident travel companion.

🐾 Other Behaviours to Note

Oreo has been evaluated by a veterinary specialist due to the bowing of his front legs. At this time, no immediate intervention has been recommended. His legs will need to be re-evaluated at approximately 6 months of age to assess how they are developing and determine whether any further treatment or intervention is needed.

Oreo is otherwise enjoying life as a puppy and will need a family committed to monitoring his growth and following up with his veterinary team as recommended.
