Snow Dog Society is a non-profit organization based in Port Moody, British Columbia with a focus on dogs from Nunavut. This initiative started as a natural extension of our regulatory company Dynamic Ocean Consulting Ltd. (Dynamic Ocean) as we often travel to Nunavut for work. Victoria Burdett-Coutts, the founding member of both organizations, has a very deep love for animals, and over the past eight years she has brought numerous dogs and puppies from various Nunavut communities. These dogs are surrendered consensually by their owners and rehomed through the province of BC.
In the past year, the scale of Snow Dog's work has grown significantly, with Nunavut dog owners now directly reaching out for support to surrender their animals. To better facilitate finding homes for these dogs - through fundraising, social media awareness, foster recruitment, and supply donations - and to expand our efforts to provide medical attention to dogs remaining in Nunavut, we've decided to formally register as a non-profit. Snow Dog Society is committed to collaborative approaches and strongly believes in working through consent and agreement with Inuit owners. We are eager to support more meaningful initiatives, such as providing medical attention or supplies for dogs in Nunavut.
