Adoption Profile

Background

Niko is a sweet, friendly boy who has quickly stolen the hearts of everyone he meets. Despite experiencing a scary situation where he was attacked by another dog, Niko remains incredibly trusting, gentle, and loving. He is a big puppy at heart and is looking for a family who will give him the love, companionship, and stability he deserves.

Description

Niko is one of the friendliest dogs you will ever meet. He loves people, loves to follow his humans around, and just wants to be included in everything. He is playful, affectionate, and happiest when he is close to his people or spending time with other dogs.

His foster describes him as the perfect family dog with zero aggression. Niko is a gentle soul who is too friendly to fight back and has so much love to give. He thrives on companionship and will make a wonderful addition to a loving family.

๐Ÿพ Dog Friendly

Yes! Niko enjoys the company of other dogs.

He was initially unsure around other dogs and would hide, likely due to being attacked in the past. Once he felt safe, he showed that he truly enjoys canine companionship. He plays well with other dogs, enjoys walking with them, and has done wonderfully with smaller dogs as well.

Niko would likely do very well in a home with another friendly, social dog.

๐Ÿฑ Cat Friendly / Prey Drive

Niko has shown curiosity toward cats but has not displayed aggressive behaviour. - Will need slow, cautious introduction to cats

๐Ÿ‘ง Kid Friendly

Yes! Niko is wonderful with children.

He loves meeting kids, happily accepts affection from children of all ages, and has gently taken treats from children's hands. His calm, affectionate personality makes him an excellent family companion.

๐Ÿฆฎ Leash Skills

Excellent!

Niko walks beautifully on leash without pulling. He enjoys going for walks and especially likes walking alongside another dog.

๐Ÿšป House Trained

House training is currently unknown.

Niko is generally a very quiet dog. He barked a little when he first arrived in foster care but settled quickly. He may occasionally cry when he wants to be close to his people, as he loves human companionship.

๐Ÿ– Food & Training

Niko has excellent manners around food. He allows people to touch him while eating and has shown no signs of food guarding.

He is very people-focused, eager to please, and highly motivated by human attention. He should excel with positive reinforcement training.

๐Ÿš— Vehicle Behaviour

Excellent!

Niko rides calmly in the vehicle without barking or whining. His foster says he is an exceptional passenger and rides even better than their own dog.

๐Ÿพ Other Behaviours to Note

Niko is a gentle, affectionate, and social dog who simply wants to be part of the family. He loves people, enjoys the company of other dogs, and is happiest when included in everyday activities.

Because of his size and desire to be close to his people, he would likely do best in a house rather than a condo or apartment. Niko is truly a special dogโ€”a big puppy with an enormous heart who is ready to give unconditional love to his forever family.
