Nala

Background

Nala and her brother Nash were surrendered to Snow Dog Rescue Society after being part of an accidental litter. They were the last two puppies from the litter who had not yet been adopted.

Description

Nala is a sweet, spirited puppy who loves to play, explore, and snuggle with her people. She loves chasing her foster brother, playing with sticks, and digging holes. Like any puppy, she is still learning what is and isn’t appropriate to chew on.

She is curious about the world around her and enjoys meeting other dogs on walks. She is also working on building confidence when left alone for short periods.

At the end of the day, Nala is a big cuddle bug who loves curling up beside her people on the couch or snuggling in bed.

🐾 Dog Friendly

Yes

Please explain: Nala currently lives with a 4½-year-old Husky/Malamute whom she absolutely loves to play with. She has also done well meeting other dogs on walks with slow, appropriate introductions. She is very social and eager to make new furry friends.

Nala is very interested in other animals and wants to investigate and play with them, but her behaviour around cats has not been assessed.

Yes, with savvy kids.

Nala has met a few children and is excited to interact and play with them. As she is still a puppy, she will do best with children who understand how to interact appropriately with a young dog and can help her learn boundaries.

🦮 Leash Skills

Nala loves going for walks and is excited to get outside to sniff and explore. She is still learning her leash manners and can pull a little when she gets excited.

🚻 House Trained

Nala is learning her house-training routine. If she gets distracted or is having too much fun playing, she may use a pee pad indoors. She also regularly goes outside in the yard, and her foster is using positive reinforcement to encourage her to continue going outside.

She will need consistency and frequent potty breaks while she continues developing this skill.

🍖 Food & Training

Nala is very food motivated and loves treats, especially carrots! She already knows to sit before receiving food and looks to her people for guidance.

She is curious and may occasionally investigate unattended food on counters, so continued puppy-proofing and training will be important.

She is currently working on touch and coming when her name is called. She is eager to learn and very motivated by positive reinforcement.

🚗 Vehicle Behaviour

Nala settles nicely and is generally quiet in the car, but she can be nervous and may have an accident. She benefits from having someone nearby to help guide her and build her confidence with car travel.

🐾 Other Behaviours to Note

Nala is still a young puppy and will need someone who is home frequently to help guide her, continue her training, and build her confidence.

She will need plenty of durable chew toys, enrichment, playtime, and appropriate outlets for her puppy energy.

Most importantly, Nala is a big snuggle bug who loves being with her people and is looking for a family who will enjoy helping her grow into a confident, well-rounded adult dog.
