Adoption Profile
Background
Luna was raised in a hoarding situation where her basic needs were not properly met. On February 17, 2025, she was surrendered for rehoming and taken in by a caring couple who spent several months helping her regain her health and begin socialization.
Due to the lack of structure in her early life, Luna required more training and guidance than they were able to provide long-term. In October 2025, Luna was transferred to our foster, Josh, where her journey with Snow Dogs began.
Description
Luna is a friendly, goofy, and happy girl who absolutely loves her people. Whether she’s playing with toys, exploring outdoors, or snuggling up for affection, she brings a big personality everywhere she goes.
She’s a big girl with big feelings and is still learning how to express them appropriately. Luna loves games like keep-away and tug-of-war, and her absolute favourite is the flirt pole—though she’s still working on giving the toy back after she catches it!
Luna is currently working on:
Resource guarding - improved - management of high value resources is key
Excited reactivity toward people and dogs - has improved to manageable with proper guidance
Jumping up when greeting - has improved
Her behaviours are non-aggressive. Her reactivity comes from excitement and a strong desire to say hello and play. Her resource guarding stems from her past, where she had to protect what was hers. She may give a warning if someone approaches her food or toys, but she has already made great progress with consistent training and will need continued support in her new home.
She is crate trained and non-destructive. She may whine briefly when left alone but typically settles and sleeps. Luna can be vocal when she wants something and will clearly let you know when it’s time for meals or bathroom breaks.
Luna forms deep bonds with her people. She’s affectionate, loves to snuggle, give kisses, and—despite her size—firmly believes she’s a lap dog. Ear rubs are one of her absolute favourite things.
💛 Luna is an incredibly special dog who has already come so far. She’s looking for a patient, committed home that will continue her training and help her build confidence.
In return, you’ll get a loyal, loving, and endlessly entertaining companion who will make you laugh every day and snuggle up with you every night. 💛
🐾 Dog Friendly
Yes—sometimes overly enthusiastic.
She generally plays well with other dogs but is still learning boundaries.
Main consideration: resource guarding.
🐱 Cat Friendly / Prey Drive
Cat-friendly with proper introduction
She can live with cats, ideally dog-savvy ones. She may chase if they run but has shown no aggression.
👧 Kid Friendly
Yes, but best suited for homes with older children due to her size and resource guarding.
🦮 Leash Skills
Luna walks very well on a long line. She is still improving on a shorter leash and can pull strongly for exciting things or smells
With mild distractions, she responds well to redirection—especially with treats. Her leash manners continue to improve with consistent training.
🚻 House Trained
Yes. She’s great at letting you know when she needs to go outside.
🍖 Food & Training
Luna is highly food-motivated, which makes training enjoyable and effective.
Not picky with food (beef removed due to sensitive stomach)
On daily probiotic supplements
Eats quickly → slow feeders, puzzles, or snuffle mats recommended
Loves lick mats, frozen treats, and chew items (chew holder recommended)
Her training is ongoing and progressing well. She is working on resource guarding, reactivity, leash manners, and polite greetings.
Commands she knows:
Sit
Down
Paw
Touch
Leave it (most of the time)
She also:
Waits patiently for meals and at thresholds
Has ~90% recall (with typical husky independence, especially outdoors)
🚗 Vehicle Behaviour
Calm and relaxed in the car, especially with a window slightly open.
🐾 Other Behaviours to Note
May gently mouth hands when excited or playing (not biting; easily redirected to toys)
Loves picking up chewing gum on walks (especially pink bubble gum!)
Likes to stick to her routine - She’ll let you know when its breakfast time, dinner time and will put herself to bed.
Can become overstimulated during play and may need a short time-out to settle - has improved
Has no concept of personal space
Afraid of baths, bathrooms, and hoses/water
