Adoption Profile

Background

Kosmo came from NWT SPCA and was transferred to Snow Dog Society. He made the journey south on a flight from Yellowknife to BC to start his new chapter.

Description

Kosmo is a very sweet and affectionate young dog who loves being around people. He enjoys attention and will happily sit beside you for long head scratches. He forms strong bonds with his people and will likely become your little shadow around the house.

He has a calm and quiet nature indoors. Kosmo understands when it is time to play and when it is time to relax, and will patiently lie at your feet while you work.

Kosmo is very food motivated and already knows several commands including sit, paw, and down. Because he loves food so much, he sometimes checks for treats first before responding to commands, but this also makes him a great candidate for continued training.

He enjoys toys and playing ball, although he prefers being chased rather than returning the ball. He also loves chew sticks and has not shown any destructive behaviour in the home.

๐Ÿพ Dog Friendly

Yes / Learning
Kosmo can be excitable when first meeting other dogs and may try to mount them. He responds well to correction from confident dogs and can learn boundaries quickly. He previously met an older female Husky and learned quickly to leave her alone after she set clear limits.

๐Ÿฑ Cat Friendly / Prey Drive

Unknown with cats. Kosmo has a strong prey drive for birds and small animals such as squirrels and mice.

๐Ÿ‘ง Kid Friendly

Unknown with younger children but very good with teens. He enjoys meeting people on walks and has a gentle temperament.

๐Ÿฆฎ Leash Skills

No issues putting on a collar or leash. However, he is a strong puller and walks like he is in a hurry. Keeping the leash shorter helps, and he would benefit from continued leash training.

๐Ÿšป House Trained

Yes. No accidents in the house and he will go to the door when he needs to go outside.
