Adoption Profile

Background

Ava is a young momma who has already been through a tremendous amount in her first year of life. In just the past two months, she has moved twice, welcomed and raised a litter of nine puppies, and is now learning what it means to be part of a family and live life as an indoor dog.

She previously lived as an outdoor community dog, so home life is entirely new — beds, toys, house rules, regular meals, and having a dog sibling are all recent discoveries.

Recently, Ava’s sister Gizmo and brother B2 were also brought in from the same community. The three of them are the last remaining dogs from their original pack, making this transition a major adjustment as they all learn safety, stability, and family life for the first time.

Description

Ava is a sweet, gentle young husky who is still learning what indoor life is all about. She can be shy and cautious at first, but once she trusts someone, she becomes a loyal and affectionate companion. She enjoys the company of other dogs and gains confidence from having a calm, steady dog to learn from.

True to her husky nature, she loves to dig, is a strong chewer, and occasionally lets out a little howl. Toys and household items are still new to her, so she’s figuring out what belongs to her (she especially loves leather or fur textures). She’s very food motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding. Ava is a tender, resilient girl who thrives with patience, routine, and gentle guidance.

🐾 Dog Friendly

Yes — Ava gets along well with other dogs and learns a lot from the confident dog in her foster home. She would likely thrive in a home with another calm, steady dog who can help her continue building confidence.

🐱 Cat Friendly / Prey Drive

Has lived with a cat previously - was non reactive, may do well with dog savvy cat with proper introductions

👧 Kid Friendly

Unknown — She is nervous with unfamiliar people and new situations, so slow introductions and a calm, predictable environment are best.

🦮 Leash Skills

Leash training is still very new to her. At this stage, Ava tends to shut down when a leash is put on, so her foster family is taking small, positive steps. She currently does best following along in secure, gated outdoor spaces.

🚻 House Trained

Yes — Ava is both house trained and pee-pad trained. She is continuing to learn household routines and is progressing well.
