Spay/Neuter Timing Addendum

Delayed Spay Addendum – 18 Months

IMPORTANT: Prior approval is required.
Before completing this addendum, the adopter must first receive approval from a Snow Dog Society representative to delay the dog’s spay until approximately 18 months of age. Do not complete this form unless this arrangement has been discussed with and approved by Snow Dog Society.

For the health and wellbeing of the dog, Snow Dog Society has agreed to allow the spay surgery to be delayed until the dog reaches approximately 18 months of age, unless otherwise recommended by a licensed veterinarian.

The adopter understands that delaying sterilization is a considered decision based on the individual needs, breed, size, and development of the dog. During this period, the adopter agrees to take all necessary precautions to prevent accidental breeding, including keeping the dog safely contained and preventing access to intact animals.

The adopter remains responsible for all routine veterinary care, including scheduling and completing the spay procedure no later than 18 months of age, or sooner if otherwise recommended by a licensed veterinarian. Proof of completion must be provided to Snow Dog Society once completed.

As outlined in the adoption agreement, if the dog becomes pregnant at any time while in the adopter’s care, the adopter agrees that the pregnant dog and any resulting puppies must be surrendered back to Snow Dog Society. Snow Dog Society will assume responsibility for the pregnancy, whelping, veterinary care, and care and placement of the puppies. All resulting puppies will become the property of Snow Dog Society, and Snow Dog Society will be responsible for finding appropriate homes for them.

The mother dog will be spayed following the appropriate recovery period and veterinary recommendation. Arrangements will then be made for her return to the adopter, provided all other terms and conditions of the adoption agreement remain in good standing.

Failure to comply with this agreement may be considered a breach of the adoption contract and may result in further action as outlined in the adoption agreement.

By signing below, the adopter acknowledges and agrees to the delayed spay timeline, the responsibilities associated with caring for an intact dog, the requirement to prevent accidental breeding, and the requirements should an accidental or intentional breeding occur.

By signing, the adopter also confirms that the delayed spay arrangement was approved by a Snow Dog Society representative prior to completing this addendum.
