Adoption Profile

Background

Rascal's history before coming into foster care is mostly unknown but him, his brother and a few other pups lived outside, but despite his rough start, he has shown just how resilient and loving he is. Since arriving in foster care, he has been slowly adjusting to life in a home and is making progress every day.

Description

Rascal is a 7-month-old Collie ร— Lab ร— Bully mix with a heart full of love and a tail that rarely stops wagging. Despite having a difficult start in life, he greets each day with optimism and an eagerness to connect with the people around him. He is incredibly affectionate and people-oriented, happiest when he's by your side soaking up attention, cuddles, and companionship.

Since arriving in foster care, Rascal has made wonderful progress. As his confidence grows, his playful, goofy puppy personality shines brighter every day. He has settled well into home life, is fully potty trained, and has built great relationships with his foster dog sisters. Once he knows he's safe, he forms strong bonds quickly and loves being part of the family.

Rascal is an active young dog who enjoys exploring, playing, and burning off his puppy energy. He will thrive with a family that enjoys spending time outdoors and can provide plenty of exercise, enrichment, and opportunities to learn. He is eager to please and is just beginning his training journey, making this the perfect age to continue building his skills and confidence.

Like many dogs with an uncertain past, Rascal is still learning that the world isn't such a scary place. New environments, loud noises, and unfamiliar dogs can make him nervous, but with patience, encouragement, and positive experiences, he continues to gain confidence every day. His foster family has already seen tremendous growth, and they know he has so much more potential waiting to blossom.

Rascal is looking for a patient, loving family who will celebrate his progress, continue building his confidence, and give him the active, fulfilling life he deserves. In return, he'll reward you with unwavering loyalty, endless tail wags, and a lifetime of love.

๐Ÿพ Dog Friendly

Yes! Rascal lives successfully with his foster dog sisters and does well with proper introductions. He can be reactive toward unfamiliar dogs while out on walks, as he currently views strange dogs as a threat. Continued positive socialization and training will help build his confidence.

๐Ÿฑ Cat Friendly / Prey Drive

Cat compatibility is unknown. Rascal has a noticeable prey drive and enjoys chasing anything that moves, so a home without small animals may be the best fit unless slow, careful introductions can be made.

๐Ÿ‘ง Kid Friendly

Unknown. Because Rascal is still gaining confidence and has shown some resource guarding, a home with older, dog-savvy children would likely be the best match.

๐Ÿฆฎ Leash Skills

Rascal is still learning to walk confidently on leash. He often stops and refuses to continue walking when he becomes overwhelmed outdoors and benefits from patient, one-on-one guidance. He has also chewed through multiple leashes when left unattended, so he should never be left alone while wearing one.

๐Ÿšป House Trained

Yes! Rascal is fully potty trained.

๐Ÿ– Food & Training

Rascal is not picky with food and is currently learning basic obedience, including "sit." He is eager to learn and will benefit from continued positive reinforcement training. He has shown resource guarding on a couple of occasions, so ongoing training around food and high-value items is recommended.

๐Ÿš— Vehicle Behaviour

Rascal travels well in the car and rides comfortably.

๐Ÿพ Other Behaviours to Note

  • High-energy puppy who needs daily exercise and enrichment.

  • Can become destructive if his physical and mental needs aren't met.

  • Loud noises and unfamiliar environments can still make him nervous.

  • Has chewed through several leashes when left unattended, so leashes should always be removed when he is unsupervised.

  • Looking for a patient, active family committed to helping him continue building confidence and succeed.
