Background

Spot was rescued alongside her puppies after giving birth while in poor body condition. Despite everything she had been through, she was a devoted mother. She is now safely recovering in foster care, where she has been gaining weight, building confidence, and learning what it means to be a loved family dog.

Spot is approximately 3 years old, weighs around 80 lbs, and is currently receiving excellent veterinary care. She has been treated for parasites and skin irritation, is currently in heat, and is scheduled to be spayed at the end of July.

Description

Spot is an incredibly sweet, gentle, and affectionate girl who absolutely adores people. She has a calm, easygoing nature in the home and is happiest spending time with her family. Every day she becomes more confident and continues to show just how loving and intelligent she is. She is quiet, well-mannered, and has never shown any aggression.

🐾 Dog Friendly

Yes! Spot is friendly and social with other dogs and enjoys playing with her canine friends. She has done very well with the dogs in her foster home. She can occasionally be a little timid around some male dogs at first but warms up with patience and positive interactions.

🐱 Cat Friendly / Prey Drive

Spot's compatibility with cats is currently unknown. She has a strong curiosity about small animals and has shown prey drive toward birds, squirrels, raccoons, and other wildlife during walks. She enjoys watching them and may try to chase them out of excitement rather than aggression. A home without cats or one with experienced management may be the best fit until she can be further assessed.

Yes! Spot has been wonderful with children. She is always gentle, sweet, and affectionate, making her a lovely companion for families.

Spot walks nicely on leash but is still learning and would benefit from continued training to build her confidence and leash manners.

Yes! Spot is house trained and does a great job letting her people know when she needs to go outside.

🍖 Food & Training

Spot has a healthy appetite and isn't picky about her food. She happily eats her meals and has already learned to "sit" and "wait." While she isn't interested in toys, she enjoys learning and responds well to gentle, positive training.

🚗 Vehicle Behaviour

Spot travels reasonably well but can experience some motion sickness on longer car rides and may drool. With shorter trips and continued exposure, she is likely to become more comfortable.

Spot is an exceptionally gentle, quiet, and intelligent dog. She has never shown aggression, including barking or biting, and has a calm, loving personality that makes her a joy to have around. After raising her puppies and overcoming a difficult start, she is now ready to find a forever family where she can finally be the one receiving all the love and care she deserves.
