Adoption Profile

Background

Rubble was found abandoned with her four puppies, who had suffered frostbite to their tails and paws. She was brought into the care of NWT SPCA, where she and her pups received the medical attention they needed. Her puppies have since all been adopted, but Rubble is still searching for her forever home. NWT SPCA reached out to us to help bring her to BC and expand the search for the loving family she deserves.

Description

Rubble is a truly special dog who loves nothing more than being part of the family. She can be a little timid at first, but it doesn’t take long for her to show her gratitude for a warm home and gentle love.

She quickly becomes your little shadow, happily soaking up attention, affection, and treats. With her petite frame and sweet nature, she’s impossible to resist when it’s time to snuggle on the couch.

Rubble has a lovely balance of energy—she enjoys playful zoomies and games of “catch me if you can,” then settles contentedly at your feet while you relax in the evening.

🐾 Dog Friendly

Yes — currently living with another dog

🐱 Cat Friendly / Prey Drive

Unknown with cats. Shows mild interest in birds and wild bunnies

👧 Kid Friendly

🦮 Leash Skills

Rubble is still getting used to life on a leash. She tends to pull as she follows her nose and explores the world around her. With her smaller size, she is easy to manage and is already starting to respond well to redirection.

🚻 House Trained

Rubble had a couple of accidents when she first arrived, likely due to nerves in a new environment. She has not had any since, though she is still learning how to signal when she needs to go outside.

🍖 Food & Training

Rubble has a big appetite and is very food-motivated—except when it comes to boiled eggs, which she prefers to try and bury outside.

She benefits from using a slow feeder at mealtimes.
Rubble is learning her name and making steady progress.
She is currently working on:

  • Sitting

  • Waiting for her meal

  • Giving a paw

🚗 Vehicle Behaviour

Rubble loves car rides and is calm and relaxed in the vehicle.

🐾 Other Behaviours to Note

Rubble still shows some puppy-like mouthing during play but is gentle and easily redirected.
She can get very focused during playtime with other dogs and may go for their legs—not out of aggression, but excitement—so she may occasionally need a break to reset.
