Description

Nessa is a sweet, affectionate little dog who loves being close to her person. She is a true little shadow and is happiest curled up beside you, sitting with you, or sleeping nearby.

Nessa is loving, people-oriented, and very affectionate. She forms strong bonds with her humans and loves attention and companionship.

She may show some separation anxiety and bark when left alone. She can also be protective of her chosen person and has displayed some attention and food guarding behaviours. She is a very quick escape artist, so extra care is needed around doors and vehicles.

🐕 Dog Friendly
Yes! Nessa has been living with four puppies and has been incredibly tolerant and patient with them. When she needs space, she appropriately communicates with a little growl. She may show some guarding behaviour around her person with other dogs, so thoughtful management and slow introductions are recommended.

Yes! Nessa has been friendly, gentle, and comfortable around children.

🦮 Leash Skills
Excellent! Nessa is easy to walk and does well on leash. She enjoys moderate walks but does not require extensive exercise. Because she is quick and may bolt, she must always be securely leashed when entering or exiting the home or vehicle.

Yes! Nessa is completely house trained with no accidents reported. She consistently goes outside to potty.

🍖 Food & Training
Nessa can be a picky eater and may lose interest in her regular food when something more exciting is available. She loves tasty treats and meat-based snacks.

She has shown some food guarding tendencies and will benefit from continued positive-reinforcement training and appropriate management.

🚗 Vehicle Behaviour
Excellent travel companion! Nessa loves going for rides and enjoys being close to her person. She does well with a seatbelt restraint. Extra care is required when opening vehicle doors as she may try to jump out and follow her person.

Nessa is affectionate, cuddly, and happiest when close to her person. She sleeps through the night and would love to sleep beside her person, preferably with her own pillow. She has also successfully settled in a crate.

She may experience separation anxiety and bark when left alone. She can be protective of her bonded person and may growl or lunge toward another dog if she feels she needs to protect them. These behaviours should be managed with patience, structure, consistency, and positive reinforcement.

Nessa received her vaccines on August 14, 2026. Her veterinarian suspects she may have a hernia, which will require further discussion with the rescue veterinary team.

She was anxious during her veterinary visit, particularly in the busy clinic environment, but is generally easy to handle outside of that setting.
