Background

Marco is a 16-month-old Husky/Terrier mix who weighs approximately 45 lbs. He came into care from Rankin Inlet, Nunavut. His previous background and medical history are currently unknown.

Description

Marco is a sweet, super-friendly, easygoing pup who is happy no matter where he is or who he’s with! He loves playing with his many toys and his foster sister, but he is also perfectly content to relax when his humans are ready to wind down.

He may follow his people around, but he isn’t overly demanding for affection—unless he’s looking for belly rubs, which he absolutely loves! Marco is a happy, adaptable boy who has settled in beautifully with his foster family.

🐾 Dog Friendly

Yes! Marco is dog friendly and loves playing with his foster sister. He has also quickly learned to give her space during mealtimes and is learning good manners around other dogs.

🐱 Cat Friendly / Prey Drive

Marco’s cat compatibility will depend on the individual cat. We believe he could do well with dog-savvy cats with slow, proper introductions.

Marco does have prey drive and will chase bunnies that come into the yard, so care should be taken around small animals.

👧 Kid Friendly

Yes! Marco has done well with children ranging from infants to 10 years old. He has been friendly and appropriate with his foster family's grandchildren.

🦮 Leash Skills

Marco is not fully leash trained but walks relatively well on leash and is very manageable. He will benefit from continued training to improve his focus, responsiveness, and ability to check in with his handler.

He knows “sit” and is currently working on his recall and “come.”

🚻 House Trained

Yes! Marco is house trained with no issues reported. He sleeps well through the night.

🍖 Food & Training

Marco is not food particular and happily eats whatever is offered. He is food motivated, although high-value treats are recommended for training, especially while working on his leash skills.

He has learned to sit and wait for his meals and has shown no resource guarding.

🚗 Vehicle Behaviour

Marco loves car rides! He enjoys being able to roam freely in the vehicle and travels well.

🐾 Other Behaviours to Note

Marco can be left alone for periods of time without concerns or signs of separation anxiety.

He has shown no resource guarding or counter surfing.

Marco does not particularly enjoy having his front paws handled, but he is easily coaxed with treats and has never shown aggression. Continued positive handling and cooperative-care training would be beneficial.

Overall, Marco is a friendly, easygoing, adaptable young dog who enjoys both playtime and relaxing with his people.
