Background
Kavyk was surrendered to Snow Dog Rescue by a community member who had rescued him in Iqaluit and wanted to help him find the safe, loving home he deserved. ❤️

When Kavyk arrived in BC, he was quite underweight, but thankfully he was otherwise healthy. Since arriving, he has been settling in beautifully and is very happy to be here!

He is now enjoying regular walks, learning new skills, playing with his favourite toys, and showing everyone what a sweet and mellow boy he is.

❤️ Personality

Kavyk is a very sweet and affectionate boy who absolutely loves people and children. He enjoys being around his humans and would love a family who will include him in their adventures.

He does well with most dogs and enjoys having canine friends.

Kavyk is also a HUGE fan of toys!

🚶‍♂️ Exercise & Adventures

Kavyk loves getting out for walks and currently enjoys 2–3 walks a day, usually around 3–5 km each. He does well on a harness and is a great walking companion.

He is also learning to run alongside a bike and is doing really well with it!

He has some prey drive and will want to chase animals he encounters out in the wild, although he does not show the same interest toward animals behind fences.

🎓 Training

Kavyk has been working hard on his manners and is making great progress!

He now knows:

• 🪑 Sit

• 🍖 Sit & wait for his food until released with an “OK”

• 🏠 Kennel/crate

• 👉 Going to his kennel when asked

He is also learning to ignore distractions and other people while walking.

Kavyk is still working on his house training and does have occasional accidents, so his new family will need to continue being patient and consistent with him.

He is kennel trained but currently still requires bathroom breaks throughout the night.

🍽️ Food Manners

Kavyk can be reactive if another dog approaches his food. He is improving, but his new family will need to continue working on food manners and giving him space while eating. He may also react if food drops near him and another dog approaches.

🐱 Cats

Unknown. Kavyk has not yet been tested with cats.

✈️ Travel

Kavyk generally travels well, although he can become destructive at times, so appropriate supervision and safe confinement may be needed during travel.

💙Other Notes

Kavyk is a wonderful combination of sweet, mellow, affectionate, and playful. He loves his people, adores children, enjoys long walks and adventures, and LOVES his toys.

He is still a young dog and has some things to learn, particularly around house training and food manners, but he is already showing how much he is capable of learning.

Kavyk is looking for a family who will continue helping him grow into the amazing dog we know he can be.
