Adoption Profile
Background
Ellie is originally from the Nunavut community. While little is known about her early life, it's clear she had a difficult start. Despite this, she has remained incredibly gentle, resilient, and trusting. She is now ready to find a loving forever home where she can continue to blossom.
Description
Meet Ellie! 🐾
At just 2 years old, Ellie is a gentle soul with so much love to give. She may be a little shy when meeting new people, but it doesn't take long for her sweet personality to shine through.
Once she feels comfortable, you'll discover the ultimate snuggle bug. With her low-energy nature, she's happiest curled up beside you on the couch, enjoying quiet moments and plenty of cuddles. Whether you're watching a movie, reading a book, or simply relaxing at home, she'll be your loyal companion every step of the way.
Ellie had a rough start to life, but she hasn't let that dim her gentle spirit. Now she's ready for the fresh start she deserves—a home filled with kindness, patience, and unconditional love.
If you're looking for a calm, affectionate best friend, Ellie is ready to steal your heart. She deserves nothing but the very best, and we know her perfect forever family is out there waiting to meet her.
🐾 Dog Friendly
Yes! Ellie is dog friendly but can be a little shy when meeting new dogs. She warms up with time and coexists well. She isn't interested in rough play and would do best with another calm, respectful dog rather than a high-energy puppy.
🐱 Cat Friendly / Prey Drive
Cat compatibility is currently unknown. Ellie has not shown any prey drive while in foster care.
👧 Kid Friendly
Unknown. Based on her personality, Ellie would likely do best in a home with older, respectful children who can provide a calm environment. A quieter household would suit her best.
🦮 Leash Skills
Ellie walks well on leash and enjoys calm walks. She is easy to handle and doesn't pull excessively.
🚻 House Trained
Yes! Ellie is house trained and reliably goes outside for her bathroom breaks.
🍖 Food & Training
Ellie is not food particular and has no known food issues. She would benefit from learning a few basic cues like "sit" and "down," but she is attentive and listens well. With consistency and positive reinforcement, she'll continue to build confidence and learn quickly.
Ellie does have separation anxiety that will need continued training.
🚗 Vehicle Behaviour
Ellie travels very well. She was quiet during her flight to Vancouver, remained calm on the ride home, and now regularly rides in the car to work with her foster without any issues.
🐾 Other Behaviours to Note
Ellie has settled in beautifully with her foster family. She is content to relax beside her people and prefers a peaceful lifestyle over constant activity. While she gets along well with other dogs, she doesn't seek out play and would likely be happiest as an only dog or with another mature, low-energy companion.
Because of her gentle nature, Ellie would thrive in a calm, patient home where she can continue building confidence at her own pace. Once she trusts you, she's incredibly affectionate, loyal, and loves nothing more than curling up beside her favourite person.
