Adoption Profile
Background
Cedar was adopted at 8 weeks old but was recently surrendered back to us as he was not the right fit for the family. He was neutered on May 11 and, aside from a chicken allergy, is healthy with no medical concerns.
Description
Cedar is a sweet, fun, and playful 6-month-old Husky/Retriever/Aussie Shepherd mix weighing 53 lbs. He loves long walks, fetch, outdoor adventures, and is fantastic in the car. He has a spirited, affectionate personality and a ton of potential.
He is still learning to manage big feelings, including resource guarding and over-dominance with other males, and can be puppy-nippy with kids. He is reaching the end of his teething stage so he can still be a bit mouthy and will chew on things he shouldn’t sometimes. He is very food-motivated, making training enjoyable and effective. Tate sleeps through the night quietly in his crate, though he doesn’t love daytime crating, so continued positive crate work will benefit him. He loves belly rubs and pets when he isn’t busy playing.
🐾 Dog Friendly
Yes, with guidance.
Cedar enjoys playing with other dogs and generally does well, though he can be pushy with some males. He can live with another dog but will need continued training around sharing food and resources.
🐱 Cat Friendly / Prey Drive
Cat Friendly: Very curious and may chase if a cat runs, but shows no aggression.
Prey Drive: Unknown beyond typical puppy curiosity.
👧 Kid Friendly
Best suited for older children.
Cedar is affectionate but still mouthy at times, so he will do best with dog-experienced older kids.
🦮 Leash Skills
Yes.
Knows heel, come, and stay. Still a work in progress but generally walks well and responds to direction.
🚻 House Trained
Yes.
Fully house trained.

🐾 Other Behaviours to Note
Cedar will thrive with an active individual or couple who can provide structure, hands-on training, and consistent expectations. He would do well as an only dog or with a confident, compatible canine companion. With routine and guidance, he’ll blossom into an incredible adventure partner.
