Background

Jemma’s Helping Paws received a message asking for help with a group of puppies in need of a place to go. Jemma connected with partners and made the trip to Kehewin to bring them into care.

When she arrived, she was met on the side of the road with a box of six small puppies. They were tiny, covered in dirt, and clearly very frightened. They had been staying in an outdoor trailer with their mom, relying on her care.

Jemma quickly got them to our volunteer Josh, where they were finally able to experience warmth, comfort, and life indoors. The puppies were taken to the vet at the first available appointment. Five were strong enough to receive their first vaccines, while one needed a little more time and support. All were treated for parasites and started on medication to help them feel better.

They’ve since made their way to Vancouver and are now settling into loving foster homes—healing, growing, and slowly discovering what it means to feel safe and loved. Now healthy, vibrant, and playful, they’re truly the little rockstars they were always meant to be💛🐾

Description

Axel is calm and easygoing on his own, but full of playful energy with his foster siblings and other dogs. He is always the first to settle. Sleepy, clumsy, and incredibly lovable, Axel enjoys quietly exploring before curling up for a cozy nap. He loves playing with other dogs but he loves nothing more than hanging out with his people.

He cries a bit when kenneled in the vehicle at first but will settle.
