Anik is a sweet and lovely dog, who has shown incredible strength and determination. On the morning of her flight out of Grise Fiord, her owner sent us a concerning photo, that we later learned was due to a prolapsed uterus. Impulsively we stuck to the plan, and got her on her flight out of Grise Fiord. She endured an incredible journey of resilience that was only possible due to the care and support of some incredible foster. It took us a week to get this little bean to Vancouver, with stops in Resolute Bay, Iqaluit and Edmonton. She was rushed to Boundary Bay Animal Hospital immediately after airport pick up. Miraculously she bet the odds of infection and the ‘will to live’ was a won battle for this resilient dog. We do have a fundraiser for financial recovery as her vet bills and travel costs were over $7,000.00.
We are so excited for Anik to find her humans. She is a very social and loving dog, and gets along with all the animals she has cohabited with to date. She does have some separation anxiety to work through, so initially would do best in an environment where someone is home frequently. She will likely also be best in a multi-animal household due to her social nature.
